Mathieu Li-Goyette is a film critic, film programmer, editor-in-chief of Panorama-cinéma, and a comics scholar with a PhD in comparative literature from the Université de Montréal. His master’s thesis focused on the black dots in the work of Jack Kirby and his dissertation on chalk talking and the emergence of comic strips in American newspapers at the turn of the 20th century. Recently, he became a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Amsterdam and co-founded the Montréal Critics’ Week, which held its first edition in January 2025. He was awarded the 2025 John A. Lent Scholarship in Comics Studies.
