Jan von Bonsdorff

Jan von Bonsdorff is Professor of Art History at Uppsala University (since 2004), previously professor at the University of Tromso. His research spans medieval artisans and guild culture, art trade in the Baltic Sea region, 19th-century European art, and the role of images in visual culture. His thesis Kunstproduktion und Kunstverbreitung im Ostseeraum des Spatmittelalters (1993) is considered a landmark transnational study in the history of art.
